T23n1442_p0810c24║爾時薄伽梵在王舍城羯蘭鐸迦池竹林園
T23n1442_p0810c25║中。時具壽大目乾連於時時中,常往捺落迦、
T23n1442_p0810c26║傍生、餓鬼、人、天諸趣慈愍觀察,於捺落迦中
T23n1442_p0810c27║見諸有情備受刀劍斬斫其身,屍糞煻煨猛
T23n1442_p0810c28║焰爐炭燒煮等苦;於傍生中見其更互相食
T23n1442_p0810c29║噉等苦;於餓鬼處見為種種飢渴所逼等苦;
T23n1442_p0811a01║於諸天處見將墜墮愛別離苦;於人趣中見
T23n1442_p0811a02║有種種艱辛求覓資生衣食殺罰等苦。既見
T23n1442_p0811a03║是已,於四眾中普皆宣告:「諸人當知!如我所
T23n1442_p0811a04║見五趣差別,苦樂之報皆悉不虛。汝等應信,
T23n1442_p0811a05║勿致疑惑。受苦報者惡業所招,謂殺、盜、邪婬,
T23n1442_p0811a06║乃至邪見,不敬三寶、欺慢尊親,無慈愍心不
T23n1442_p0811a07║持禁戒,由斯惡行得苦異熟。受樂報者善業
T23n1442_p0811a08║所感,謂不殺盜乃至不邪見,崇信三寶、敬重
T23n1442_p0811a09║尊親,具慈愍心奉持禁戒,由斯善行得樂異
T23n1442_p0811a10║熟。」諸人聞已歎未曾有,悉皆舉手高聲唱言:
T23n1442_p0811a11║「善哉!聖者能為我等盲冥之輩,但見現在不
T23n1442_p0811a12║覩未來,親於五趣,觀善惡事還來相告,我等
T23n1442_p0811a13║始知報應影響必不唐捐。從今已去改惡修
T23n1442_p0811a14║福,希生善道不墮惡趣。」是時四眾既自聞已
T23n1442_p0811a15║皆作是念:「我之男女或弟子等常為惡業,不
T23n1442_p0811a16║勤修習清淨梵行。」欲令棄捨諸惡業故,悉皆
T23n1442_p0811a17║將至聖者大目乾連處,令其聽法。既聞法已
T23n1442_p0811a18║冀修善行,免墮惡趣證殊勝果。當爾之時四
T23n1442_p0811a19║眾雲集來聽法要,人眾諠囂。世尊知而故問
T23n1442_p0811a20║具壽阿難陀曰:「何故大目乾連處四眾雲集?」
T23n1442_p0811a21║時阿難陀白佛言:「世尊具壽大目乾連遊行
T23n1442_p0811a22║五趣見諸苦惱,於四眾中具說其事,由此諸
T23n1442_p0811a23║人為聽法故皆來集會。」
T23n1442_p0811a24║爾時世尊告阿難陀:「非一切時處常有大目
T23n1442_p0811a25║乾連,如是之輩頗亦難得,是故我今勅諸苾
T23n1442_p0811a26║芻,於寺門屋下畫生死輪。」時諸苾芻不知畫
T23n1442_p0811a27║法,世尊告曰:「應隨大小圓作輪形處中安轂,
T23n1442_p0811a28║次安五輻表五趣之相。當轂之下畫捺洛迦,
T23n1442_p0811a29║於其二邊畫傍生、餓鬼。次於其上可畫人、天,
T23n1442_p0811b01║於人趣中應作四洲:東毘提訶、南贍部洲、西
T23n1442_p0811b02║瞿陀尼、北拘盧洲,於其轂處作圓白色,中畫
T23n1442_p0811b03║佛像,於佛像前應畫三種形:初作鴿形表多
T23n1442_p0811b04║貪染,次作蛇形表多瞋恚,後作猪形表多愚
T23n1442_p0811b05║癡,於其輞處應作溉灌輪像,多安水罐畫作
T23n1442_p0811b06║有情生死之像。生者於罐中出頭,死者於罐
T23n1442_p0811b07║中出足,於五趣處各像其形,周圓復畫十二
T23n1442_p0811b08║緣生生滅之相,所謂無明緣行乃至老死,無
T23n1442_p0811b09║明支應作羅剎像,行支應作瓦輪像,識支應
T23n1442_p0811b10║作獼猴像,名色支應作乘船人像,六處支應
T23n1442_p0811b11║作六根像,觸支應作男女相摩觸像,受支應
T23n1442_p0811b12║作男女受苦樂像,愛支應作女人抱男女像,
T23n1442_p0811b13║取支應作丈夫持瓶取水像,有支應作大梵
T23n1442_p0811b14║天像,生支應作女人誕孕像,老支應作男女
T23n1442_p0811b15║衰老像,病應作男女帶病像,死支應作輿
T23n1442_p0811b16║死人像,憂應作男女憂慼像,悲應作男女啼
T23n1442_p0811b17║哭像,苦應作男女受苦之像,惱應作男女挽
T23n1442_p0811b18║難調駱駝像。於其輪上應作無常大鬼蓬
T23n1442_p0811b19║髮張口,長舒兩臂抱生死輪,於鬼頭兩畔書
T23n1442_p0811b20║二伽他曰:
T23n1442_p0811b21║「『汝當求出離,  於佛教勤修,
T23n1442_p0811b22║  降伏生死軍,  如象摧草舍。
T23n1442_p0811b23║  於此法律中,  常為不放逸,
T23n1442_p0811b24║  能竭煩惱海,  當盡苦邊際。』

T23n1442_p0811b25║「次於無常鬼上應作白圓壇,以表涅槃圓淨
T23n1442_p0811b26║之像。」如佛所教,於門屋下應作生死輪者,時
T23n1442_p0811b27║諸苾芻奉教而作。諸有敬信婆羅門居士等
T23n1442_p0811b28║見畫輪像,問言:「聖者!此之畫輪欲表何事?」苾
T23n1442_p0811b29║芻答曰:「我亦不知何所表示?」諸人報曰:「若不
T23n1442_p0811c01║解者何因圖畫?」時諸苾芻默無所對,即以此
T23n1442_p0811c02║緣具白世尊。世尊告曰:「應差苾芻於門屋下
T23n1442_p0811c03║坐,為來往諸人婆羅門等,指示生死輪轉因
T23n1442_p0811c04║緣。」如佛所教令指示者,時諸苾芻遂不簡擇,
T23n1442_p0811c05║令無識解者開導其事,不生物信更招譏醜,
T23n1442_p0811c06║佛言:「令知解者指示諸人。」 時王舍城有一長
T23n1442_p0811c07║者,娶妻未久便誕一男,顏容端正人所樂見,
T23n1442_p0811c08║告其妻曰:「賢首!我今有子,多有費用,宜入大
T23n1442_p0811c09║海經求珍貨。」妻告言:「善。」長者即便持諸雜物
T23n1442_p0811c10║入大海中,因風破舶往而不返。其妻辛苦,或
T23n1442_p0811c11║假宗親、或以自力長養小兒,以孤貧養育名
T23n1442_p0811c12║曰貧生。時貧生童子既漸長大,付師受業,遂
T23n1442_p0811c13║與同學往竹林園。至寺門下見畫五趣生死之
T23n1442_p0811c14║輪,問言:「聖者!此名何物?」苾芻報曰:「此是五趣
T23n1442_p0811c15║生死之輪。」白言:「聖者!為我宣說。」苾芻告曰:「汝
T23n1442_p0811c16║當善聽!所謂捺洛迦、傍生、餓鬼、人、天趣別。」又
T23n1442_p0811c17║問:「聖者!此捺洛迦有情,曾作何業受斯斬斫
T23n1442_p0811c18║碎身等苦?」苾芻報曰:「賢首!此於十惡業道,以
T23n1442_p0811c19║極重心數作不息,由彼業力今受斯苦。」又問:
T23n1442_p0811c20║「聖者!此傍生趣,曾作何業受斯負重相食等
T23n1442_p0811c21║苦?」苾芻報曰:「賢首!此由造作十惡業道,以輕
T23n1442_p0811c22║微心數作不息,由彼業力今受斯苦。」又問:「聖
T23n1442_p0811c23║者!此餓鬼趣,曾作何業受斯飢渴燒然等苦?」
T23n1442_p0811c24║苾芻報曰:「賢首!此由慳惜己物不肯惠施,見
T23n1442_p0811c25║他施時便為遮止,於三寶處、父母親族無分
T23n1442_p0811c26║布心,數習不已,由彼業力今受斯苦。」又問:「聖
T23n1442_p0811c27║者!此之天趣,曾作何業受勝妙樂?」苾芻報曰:
T23n1442_p0811c28║「賢首!此由以慇重心修十善業,敬信三寶受
T23n1442_p0811c29║持禁戒,由彼業力今得生天受勝妙樂。」又問:
T23n1442_p0812a01║「聖者!此之人趣,曾作何業受處中樂,而有馳
T23n1442_p0812a02║求活命等苦?」苾芻報曰:「賢首!此於十善業道,
T23n1442_p0812a03║以輕微心而數修習,由彼業力今得人身受
T23n1442_p0812a04║處中樂,而有馳求活命等苦。」童子白言:「聖者!
T23n1442_p0812a05║下三惡趣我所不欲,生人天中情有欽尚。聖
T23n1442_p0812a06║者!我作何業生彼天中?」答曰:「汝若能於佛正
T23n1442_p0812a07║教中善說法律而出家者,於現世中策勵修
T23n1442_p0812a08║習,斷諸煩惱盡苦邊際。若不獲果,有餘煩惱
T23n1442_p0812a09║而命終者,當生天上。」「聖者!若出家者當作何
T23n1442_p0812a10║業?」答曰:「乃至命終無虧梵行。」曰:「我不能作,更
T23n1442_p0812a11║有何業得生天上?」「若受八支及五學處為近
T23n1442_p0812a12║住近事。」曰:「此作何事?」答曰:「若一日夜或至盡
T23n1442_p0812a13║形,不殺、盜、婬、不妄語等。」曰:「此亦不能,更作何
T23n1442_p0812a14║業當得生天?」答曰:「若以飲食供佛及僧,由此
T23n1442_p0812a15║福因當生天上。」「聖者!可用幾物得為飲食供
T23n1442_p0812a16║佛及僧?」答曰:「可用五百金錢。」「聖者!此事可辦。」
T23n1442_p0812a17║即從座起禮足而去。 還家白母曰:「我於向者
T23n1442_p0812a18║詣竹林園,於寺門下見有彩畫五趣生死之
T23n1442_p0812a19║輪,所謂捺洛迦、傍生、餓鬼及以人、天。下三惡
T23n1442_p0812a20║趣我所不欲,上之二趣心有愛樂,母今欲得
T23n1442_p0812a21║生人天不?」母曰:「欲得。」「若如是者,當可與我五
T23n1442_p0812a22║百金錢,奉佛及僧一中供養,當得生天。」母曰:
T23n1442_p0812a23║「汝少失父孤惸養育,或以自力、或假宗親,今
T23n1442_p0812a24║始成人付師受業,束脩之直尚自不充,五百
T23n1442_p0812a25║金錢卒何能得?」白言:「若貧無者,我當傭力求
T23n1442_p0812a26║覓金錢。」母曰:「汝今少年氣力微劣,何能客作
T23n1442_p0812a27║求覓珍財?」答曰:「我當勠力望及餘人。」母見慇
T23n1442_p0812a28║懃即放令去,往市店所求自傭賃。時有婆羅
T23n1442_p0812a29║門居士等來覓作人,曾不見問乃至日暮,佇
T23n1442_p0812b01║立行中諸人散盡,遂便還舍。母問曰:「得傭力
T23n1442_p0812b02║處不?」答言:「曾無見問。」母曰:「豈有作人如汝束
T23n1442_p0812b03║帶。凡作人者,頭蒙塵土著破弊衣,在作行中
T23n1442_p0812b04║他人見問。」既至明朝如母所說,著麁衣服住
T23n1442_p0812b05║作行中。時有長者欲造宅舍,來至行中覓傭
T23n1442_p0812b06║力者,將餘人去不問貧生。于時貧生報長者
T23n1442_p0812b07║曰:「我亦客作,何不相雇?」長者曰:「汝容貌柔
T23n1442_p0812b08║軟,豈能執作?」答曰:「傭力之人豈先與價?」長
T23n1442_p0812b09║者曰:「日暮方酬。」貧生曰:「我且為作,至日晡時
T23n1442_p0812b10║若稱作功當酬價直,若不愜意物不須與。」長
T23n1442_p0812b11║者將歸令其作務,諸餘作者並不齊心,唯此
T23n1442_p0812b12║貧生盡力為作。諸人報曰:「觀汝形勢,未解客
T23n1442_p0812b13║作,但可度日,何苦自身?」貧生報曰:「兄等知不?
T23n1442_p0812b14║我由惡業生在貧家,今更欺人當生何道?」諸
T23n1442_p0812b15║人報曰:「汝今未解,且事勤勞,不久之間懶劇
T23n1442_p0812b16║於我。」時彼貧生善能談說,為諸作者巧說當
T23n1442_p0812b17║機,諸人樂聞執作隨走,欲聽其話不暇徐行,
T23n1442_p0812b18║貧生引之乃至終日,一日之作比餘兩倍。長
T23n1442_p0812b19║者至暮自來檢察,覩其所作倍勝於常,問當
T23n1442_p0812b20║作人曰:「汝於今日加作人耶?」報言:「不加。」「若爾,
T23n1442_p0812b21║何故兩倍於前?」其當作人以事具告,長者聞
T23n1442_p0812b22║已極生歡喜,遂與貧人兩倍之價。貧問曰:
T23n1442_p0812b23║「兩日之價,豈併相酬?」長者曰:「我心愧汝,故倍
T23n1442_p0812b24║酬直。」貧人曰:「若稱意者,乃至宅成常容我作,
T23n1442_p0812b25║所有價直且未須還,作了之辰一時當付。」長
T23n1442_p0812b26║者曰:「善哉!」遂常令執作,至宅功畢長者算錢
T23n1442_p0812b27║欲酬作直,唯得四百五十未滿所期。貧人見
T23n1442_p0812b28║已遂便啼泣,長者曰:「何故啼泣?豈我於汝相
T23n1442_p0812b29║欺負耶!」答曰:「長者大人無容欺負,然我本心
T23n1442_p0812c01║求錢五百,於佛及僧擬申供養,錢既未足更
T23n1442_p0812c02║復苦身,為此因緣我悲啼耳!」長者曰:「若緣福
T23n1442_p0812c03║事我願助成。」貧人報曰:「長者添滿自成福業,
T23n1442_p0812c04║乖我本願不得生天。」長者曰:「汝以信心奉佛眾
T23n1442_p0812c05║不?」報言:「如是。」「若爾,汝可往問世尊,如佛所說
T23n1442_p0812c06║汝當奉行。」 時彼貧人尋詣佛所,禮佛足已在
T23n1442_p0812c07║一面坐,白佛言:「世尊!我為供佛僧眾,自賃己
T23n1442_p0812c08║身求五百金錢,在某長者家多時客作,及至
T23n1442_p0812c09║作了五百不充。長者見欠為我添滿,為當取
T23n1442_p0812c10║耶?為不取耶?」佛言:「童子!應可取之。」白佛言:「世
T23n1442_p0812c11║尊!他物相助恐不生天。」佛言:「童子!汝初發心
T23n1442_p0812c12║當生天處,何況捨施不生天耶?」奉佛教已
T23n1442_p0812c13║歡喜而去,至長者家取五百金錢還詣母所,
T23n1442_p0812c14║白言:「慈母!此是五百金錢,幸願營辦供佛及
T23n1442_p0812c15║僧。」母曰:「汝豈不知,家道先貧觸途闕乏,食手
T23n1442_p0812c16║器具座褥皆無,欲請佛僧若為能濟?汝今可
T23n1442_p0812c17║去白傭力處長者,令知彼舍寬容或能為作。」
T23n1442_p0812c18║貧人聞告,詣長者處白言:「今我家貧觸途匱
T23n1442_p0812c19║乏,食手器具座席並無,欲請佛僧事不能濟,
T23n1442_p0812c20║敢欲憑告就此宅中為辦所須,請佛僧食是
T23n1442_p0812c21║事得不?」長者便念:「我造新宅得供佛僧斯成
T23n1442_p0812c22║善事。」告曰:「汝可留物往請佛僧,來就宅中為
T23n1442_p0812c23║受供養。」時彼貧生留物而去,遂於明日往詣
T23n1442_p0812c24║佛所,禮佛足已長跪合掌白言:「世尊!唯願明
T23n1442_p0812c25║日就某宅中哀受微供。」
T23n1442_p0812c26║爾時世尊默然受請。見佛受已禮足而去,報
T23n1442_p0812c27║長者知時。彼長者即為具辦種種上妙飲食,
T23n1442_p0812c28║於晨朝時敷設座褥,安大水器布列香花,令
T23n1442_p0812c29║使白佛:「飲食已辦,願佛知時。」爾時世尊,於日
T23n1442_p0813a01║初分著衣持鉢,與諸聖眾詣長者家。是時六
T23n1442_p0813a02║眾苾芻問授事人曰:「今日誰家請佛僧眾?」報
T23n1442_p0813a03║言:「某長者子。」六眾議曰:「彼客作人有何飲食?
T23n1442_p0813a04║我今宜往餘相識處求覓小食。」至彼舍已,彼
T23n1442_p0813a05║言:「聖者!可食小食。」即皆飽食方詣請處。爾時
T23n1442_p0813a06║世尊并諸大眾至長者家,各洗足已就座而
T23n1442_p0813a07║坐。是時貧生便以清淨上妙飲食,手自供給
T23n1442_p0813a08║悉令飽滿,見六眾苾芻不能美食,便詣佛所
T23n1442_p0813a09║白言:「世尊!我見眾中有諸聖者不能美食,將
T23n1442_p0813a10║非由此障我生天?」佛言:「賢首!但施座褥定得
T23n1442_p0813a11║生天,何況佛僧為受飲食。」是時貧人見佛僧
T23n1442_p0813a12║眾飯食既訖,收鉢器已,便持小席在佛前坐,
T23n1442_p0813a13║聽說妙法。佛為宣說示教利喜從座而去。 當
T23n1442_p0813a14║爾之時有五百商人,從大海來過王舍城,初
T23n1442_p0813a15║至之日遇大節會,所將珍貨無人交易,共相
T23n1442_p0813a16║議曰:「既無交易事欲如何?飲食所須無求覓
T23n1442_p0813a17║處。」中有一人,曾近苾芻諳知法式,告諸人曰:
T23n1442_p0813a18║「宜可散問,今朝何處供佛及僧?其家必有餘
T23n1442_p0813a19║殘飲食,我等往彼而求覓之。」訪知某甲長者
T23n1442_p0813a20║之宅已供佛僧,「我等往彼當以價直而求贖
T23n1442_p0813a21║之。」即便至舍白言:「長者!佛僧食訖必有餘殘,
T23n1442_p0813a22║求贖多少?」長者報言:「非是我食,是此少年所
T23n1442_p0813a23║設飲食。」商人就彼同前求覓。貧人報曰:「我不
T23n1442_p0813a24║須錢,直爾相惠。」時彼商人悉皆恣食,既飽滿
T23n1442_p0813a25║已咸並稱歎,白長者曰:「仁於今日獲大善利,
T23n1442_p0813a26║於己舍內供佛及僧,我等商人亦蒙飽足。」長
T23n1442_p0813a27║者報曰:「此非我食,是此少年所設供養。」問曰:
T23n1442_p0813a28║「今此少年是誰之子?」報云:「是某甲長者子。」商
T23n1442_p0813a29║主報曰:「此人即是我知識之子。」便以大疊
T23n1442_p0813b01║敷之于地,并安珍寶普相告曰:「諸君當知!我
T23n1442_p0813b02║聞眾縷成衣渧水盈器,仁有施者宜安此處。」
T23n1442_p0813b03║須臾之間便成寶聚。商主報曰:「當受此物。」貧
T23n1442_p0813b04║生曰:「我但施食,無求物心。」商主曰:「斯非食價,
T23n1442_p0813b05║此中一寶能成百供,非關食直,以慶喜心共
T23n1442_p0813b06║相贈遺。」報言:「我今設食求覓生天,仁雖見惠
T23n1442_p0813b07║我不敢取,勿緣此故障我生天。」商主曰:「汝信
T23n1442_p0813b08║佛不?」答言:「我信。」「若信佛者可往問佛,隨佛所
T23n1442_p0813b09║教當奉行之。」時長者子往詣佛所,禮佛足已
T23n1442_p0813b10║白言:「世尊!我向設供尚有餘食,與五百商人
T23n1442_p0813b11║皆令飽滿。時彼歡喜以眾多珍寶見惠於我,
T23n1442_p0813b12║為受此物為不受耶?」佛言:「受取。」白言:「世尊!勿
T23n1442_p0813b13║緣此寶障我生天!」佛言:「此是花報,果報在後。」
T23n1442_p0813b14║時長者子禮佛而去,為受珍寶。
T23n1442_p0813b15║爾時王舍城中有一首望長者,遇疾身亡更
T23n1442_p0813b16║無子息,眾人議曰:「長者身死,首望交無,欲覓
T23n1442_p0813b17║於誰共相領攝?宜應共覓大福德人立為首
T23n1442_p0813b18║望。」諸人議曰:「如何得知是大福德?」中有智
T23n1442_p0813b19║者,告諸人曰:「應以眾多種子置一[土*瓦]中,令
T23n1442_p0813b20║彼諸人以手探取。若得一色種子者,當立其
T23n1442_p0813b21║人以為首望。」即便如議,以雜種子置一瓨中,
T23n1442_p0813b22║眾人各探咸得雜種,獨此貧生得純色種子。
T23n1442_p0813b23║眾人雖見而僉議曰:「我等豈可立客作人以
T23n1442_p0813b24║為首望?」便令三取,皆得純色。諸人既見共生
T23n1442_p0813b25║希有,云:「是天神之所加護,我等今者宜可同
T23n1442_p0813b26║心請為尊首。」是時郭邑共拜貧生以為首望。
T23n1442_p0813b27║時設供長者見是事已,即以眾寶瓔珞嚴飾
T23n1442_p0813b28║其女而娉與之,時貧生善業力故宅中珍寶
T23n1442_p0813b29║忽然自生,眾人因此號曰善生。時善生長者
T23n1442_p0813c01║作如是念:「今我宅中所受果報,皆是世尊威
T23n1442_p0813c02║神之力,我今宜可請佛及僧,來至宅中受我
T23n1442_p0813c03║供養。」是時善生長者往詣佛所,禮佛足已在
T23n1442_p0813c04║一面坐,佛為說法既聞法已,即起長跪整衣
T23n1442_p0813c05║一肩,合掌恭敬白佛言:「世尊!唯願慈悲與諸
T23n1442_p0813c06║苾芻,明當就宅為受微供。」爾時世尊默然為
T23n1442_p0813c07║受。善生長者見佛受已,即禮佛足從坐而去。
T23n1442_p0813c08║時善生長者,即於其夜備辦種種上妙飲食,
T23n1442_p0813c09║廣說如前,手自持食奉佛僧眾。見收鉢已為
T23n1442_p0813c10║欲聽法,便持小席在佛前坐。爾時世尊知彼
T23n1442_p0813c11║長者意樂根性隨機說法,令彼長者心得開
T23n1442_p0813c12║悟,即於座上夫婦二人以金剛智杵,摧破二
T23n1442_p0813c13║十種薩迦耶見山,得預流果。既見諦已,白佛
T23n1442_p0813c14║言:「世尊!我等由佛得解脫果,此非父母、高祖、
T23n1442_p0813c15║人王,及諸天眾、沙門、婆羅門、親友、眷屬之所
T23n1442_p0813c16║能作。我逢世尊大善知識故,於地獄、傍生、餓

T23n1442_p0814a08║長者將諸男女,詣花林中共為遊觀。爾時世
T23n1442_p0814a09║間無佛,有獨覺者出興於世,於貧窶類常懷
T23n1442_p0814a10║哀愍,住下房舍及以麁食,譬如麟角獨現世
T23n1442_p0814a11║間。時此獨覺為愍物故,人間遊行至斯聚落,
T23n1442_p0814a12║於日初分著衣持鉢欲行乞食,復自思念:『我
T23n1442_p0814a13║今何故為難滿身辛苦入村多處求食?宜住
T23n1442_p0814a14║園內。若有節會人來,隨彼所施用自充足。』
T23n1442_p0814a15║是時獨覺即往園中。長者遙見身心湛寂容
T23n1442_p0814a16║儀詳序,彌加信敬起渴仰心,便就禮足白
T23n1442_p0814a17║言:『聖者!仁為求食,我為求福,宜住園中受我
T23n1442_p0814a18║供養。』時彼獨覺默然許之,長者於日日中奉
T23n1442_p0814a19║施飲食。後時長者有事須詣餘村,告其婦曰:
T23n1442_p0814a20║『賢首!我今有事須往某村,汝於聖者如常供
T23n1442_p0814a21║養勿令有闕。』告已便去。時長者婦晨朝早起
T23n1442_p0814a22║備辦飲食,其子問曰:『母今辛苦每日為誰?』母
T23n1442_p0814a23║曰:『為上福田。』聞已怒曰:『彼不傭力而受他食。』
T23n1442_p0814a24║母便訶叱:『汝莫作此口業重罪。』長者後還問
T23n1442_p0814a25║其妻曰:『聖者飲食無闕乏不?』婦報之曰:『所供
T23n1442_p0814a26║飲食無闕時須,然我童兒於聖者處作口業
T23n1442_p0814a27║罪。』具陳子語。長者便念:『小兒無識自害其軀,
T23n1442_p0814a28║當墮惡趣。』即携童兒詣尊者處。時彼獨覺遙
T23n1442_p0814a29║見長者與子俱來,便作是念:『長者比來獨行
T23n1442_p0814b01║而至,何故今日與伴俱來?』觀知事已,不用口
T23n1442_p0814b02║言以身說法,為愍彼故踊身空界,猶若鵞王,

T23n1442_p0814b04║舒自在令生深信。凡夫之人見神通時,速能

T23n1442_p0814b08║者即以隨時香花慇懃供養,父子悉皆頂禮

T23n1442_p0814b10║惡罵出傭力言,願於當來勿受苦報。所有勤
T23n1442_p0814b11║誠供養功德,願於來世生大富家,并得如是
T23n1442_p0814b12║殊勝之果,勝此大師我當承事不生厭背。』 「汝
T23n1442_p0814b13║等苾芻勿生異念,往時長者子者即今善生
T23n1442_p0814b14║長者是,由於獨覺所發瞋怒心作傭力語,遂
T23n1442_p0814b15║於五百生中常為客作,至今傭力惡業方盡。
T23n1442_p0814b16║復由至誠供養功德生大富家,由昔願言并
T23n1442_p0814b17║得如是殊勝果者,今於我所得見真諦。又
T23n1442_p0814b18║願勝此大師我當承事不生厭背者,我勝獨
T23n1442_p0814b19║覺百千億倍,供養於我無厭背心。是故汝等
T23n1442_p0814b20║苾芻!若作純黑業得純黑異熟,若作純白業
T23n1442_p0814b21║得純白異熟,若作黑白雜業得雜異熟。汝等
T23n1442_p0814b22║苾芻!應離純黑及以雜業,當修純白業得純
T23n1442_p0814b23║白報,如是應學。」此是緣起,尚未制戒。
T23n1442_p0814b24║爾時世尊出王舍城詣廣嚴城,住獼猴池側
T23n1442_p0814b25║高閣堂中。時有長者名曰勇利,聞佛來至在
T23n1442_p0814b26║高閣堂中,便詣佛所禮佛足已却坐一面,佛

T23n1442_p0814c08║「可食少許菴沒羅餅。」答言:「好。」遂即飽食。時有

T23n1442_p0814c10║芻報曰:「我一坐食,不應二處。」長者曰:「若如是

T23n1442_p0814c12║請家。爾時世尊不去赴請,苾芻皆往。有五因

T23n1442_p0814c14║天說法,三為觀病者,四為觀臥具,五為弟子
T23n1442_p0814c15║制其學處。此中所為欲制學處,住在堂中令

T23n1442_p0814c24║眾亦皆食訖。」長者聞已忿怒作色,告言:「聖者!
T23n1442_p0814c25║豈我宅內無斯餅耶?」告家人曰:「汝可行此菴
T23n1442_p0814c26║沒羅餅。」彼即行餅。時取食苾芻受得食已,往
T23n1442_p0814c27║詣佛所頂禮佛足在一面立。世尊常法與取
T23n1442_p0814c28║食人共相言問:「今日眾僧飲食飽不?」白言:「世
T23n1442_p0814c29║尊!上妙飲食悉皆飽滿,然彼勇利長者有忿
T23n1442_p0815a01║僧眾。」佛言:「何意?」時彼苾芻以事具白。佛言:「勇

T23n1442_p0815a12║有苾芻身嬰疾苦,有解醫者來入寺中。苾芻
T23n1442_p0815a13║見已報言:「賢首!宜觀我病為處藥方。」醫言:「聖
T23n1442_p0815a14║者!可食小食。」報言:「賢首!世尊不許。」醫言:「此
T23n1442_p0815a15║即是藥,非餘能療。」苾芻答曰:「世尊制戒不許
T23n1442_p0815a16║我食。」醫曰:「世尊大悲,為有病緣必應聽食。」時
T23n1442_p0815a17║諸苾芻聞斯事已以緣白佛,佛言:「除病因緣。」
T23n1442_p0815a18║又有苾芻為營僧務,或為窣覩波事,身體飢
T23n1442_p0815a19║虛遂便偃臥廢修善品。時有淨信婆羅門居
T23n1442_p0815a20║士等來入寺中,見其偃臥作如是語:「聖者!世
T23n1442_p0815a21║尊教法一向勤修,何故今時偃臥而住?」答言:
T23n1442_p0815a22║「賢首!我極虛羸。」報言:「應食小食。」答曰:「佛制
T23n1442_p0815a23║不許。」諸苾芻白佛,佛言:「除作因緣。」
T23n1442_p0815a24║爾時世尊從廣嚴城往給孤獨園。時有苾芻,
T23n1442_p0815a25║疲於道路身體羸損,共相謂曰:「我身疲倦。若
T23n1442_p0815a26║佛世尊聽許我等食小食者,雖涉長途身不
T23n1442_p0815a27║勞倦。」以事白佛,佛言:「除道行時。」
T23n1442_p0815a28║爾時世尊至室羅伐城給孤獨園。時此城中
T23n1442_p0815a29║有一長者,自立要期,每於月八日、十五日、二
T23n1442_p0815b01║十三日、月盡日,於此四日受聖八支近住學
T23n1442_p0815b02║處。又作要期,請苾芻就舍而食,乃至苾芻未
T23n1442_p0815b03║來食者必不先食。同於此日有餘長者,請佛
T23n1442_p0815b04║及僧就舍受食。佛及僧眾赴請之後,長者遂
T23n1442_p0815b05║遣使人往詣寺中請僧來食。使者至寺不見
T23n1442_p0815b06║苾芻,還報長者:「我於寺內不見一人。」長者曰:
T23n1442_p0815b07║「彼何處去?」答曰:「有別長者請佛僧眾就舍而
T23n1442_p0815b08║食。」長者曰:「彼食苾芻隨喚取一。」使人去喚,見
T23n1442_p0815b09║彼苾芻悉皆食訖從舍而出,白言:「聖者!某甲
T23n1442_p0815b10║長者家中設食,唯願慈悲無違所請。」苾芻曰:
T23n1442_p0815b11║「我已食訖。」還報長者:「苾芻食訖。」長者曰:「汝更
T23n1442_p0815b12║疾去白言:『聖者!可來就食,食了之後,以大[疊*毛]
T23n1442_p0815b13║施。』」使者復去報苾芻曰:「可來就食,食了之後,
T23n1442_p0815b14║以大[疊*毛]施。」苾芻曰:「我已足食,隨[疊*毛]大小無宜
T23n1442_p0815b15║更去。」使報長者:「苾芻足食更不肯來,隨衣大
T23n1442_p0815b16║小無宜重食。」時彼長者為待苾芻日時已過,
T23n1442_p0815b17║遂便一日絕食。時彼隣人聞是事已共生嫌
T23n1442_p0815b18║賤:「云何此諸沙門釋子他施衣時亦不肯食。
T23n1442_p0815b19║違彼長者信敬之心,由不受請令他絕食。」諸
T23n1442_p0815b20║苾芻聞以此因緣具白世尊,世尊告曰:「除施
T23n1442_p0815b21║衣時。」爾時世尊讚歎少欲持戒敬重戒者,說
T23n1442_p0815b22║隨順法告諸苾芻曰:「前是創制,此是隨開。」廣
T23n1442_p0815b23║說如前。「我今為諸苾芻制其學處,應如是說:

T23n1442_p0815b25║者,病時、作時、道行時、施衣時,此是時。」
T23n1442_p0815b26║若復苾芻者,謂是六眾也,餘義如上。 展轉食
T23n1442_p0815b27║者,謂數數食。 除餘時者,謂除其時。此中時者,
T23n1442_p0815b28║謂是病時。病時者,若苾芻於一坐時不能飽
T23n1442_p0815b29║足。作時者,若於窣覩波所有營作及眾僧事
